On the other side of the river you can see the entrance to West India docks where Canary Wharf now lies. The area on the other side of the river to your right is know as Blackwall. Many people that worked on the docks and wharfs used to live there before a second road was built under the river in 1967, the Blackwall Tunnel. Tom Stothard lived here before his neighbourhood disappeared. His list of people who used to live there seems fittingly memorial-like, even if the names are more colourful than those you might find on a war memorial.
